Wednesday 9/3/14:
Topics: 1. Photos, how do we upload? Ms. Clo will walk you through this.
2. How to ask good questions in an interview (and other exciting article writing tips!)
3. Designing pages: Our Editor-in-Chief, Sasha Dimov, will take the layout designers through a tutorial on how to design awesome templates!
Monday, September 1: NO School, Labor Day
Friday 8/29/14:
Photography Scavenger Hunt: All photographers, in teams of 2. Take handout and visit different locations around school to take photos. On Wednesday you will make a mock brochure with the photos you took.
House Ball interview questions
Outside of class assignments: Photographers go to girls volleyball game to take photos after school.
Wednesday 8/27/14:

Collect: Yearbook Contract signed.
Objectives: Explore our yearbook theme, make binders for grade levels, create calendars. Photo editors assign photo assignments. Editors and managing editors work to create a plan for article writing, etc.
Friday 8/21/14:
Objectives: Explore theme ideas for the yearbook, discuss expectations for staff roles
Wednesday 8/20/14:
Objectives: Draw a Pig Personality test, syllabus, class expectations, yearbook contract
Monday 8/18/14:
First day Objectives:
Welcome to the class, Getting to Know Each Other, Yearbook Staff Positions
Topics: 1. Photos, how do we upload? Ms. Clo will walk you through this.
2. How to ask good questions in an interview (and other exciting article writing tips!)
3. Designing pages: Our Editor-in-Chief, Sasha Dimov, will take the layout designers through a tutorial on how to design awesome templates!
- Photographers, use photos you took to make a brochure advertising Gateway HS.
- Photographers: Upload photos to website from girl's volleyball game.
- Assign photo jobs.
- Layout Designers: Start designing templates (Sasha). Editors (All) make a task list for our yearbook rep (for this Friday).
- Article writing tips: How to ask good questions. (ALL)
- HW: Start collecting information for your first article of the year.

Wednesday 8/27/14:
- Register the yearbook staff on the Webease website, everyone should create a password and sign in to explore the website.
- Story Ideas Brainstorm: Look over the list of story ideas, come up with a list of stories you would like to work on this year for submission to the yearbook. All Staff members must write at least 2 articles for the yearbook.
- Editors & Managing Editors: Work on the ladder (order of the book).
- Other Staff jobs: Polls, story ideas, interviews.
Monday 8/25/14:
Collect: Yearbook Contract signed.
Objectives: Explore our yearbook theme, make binders for grade levels, create calendars. Photo editors assign photo assignments. Editors and managing editors work to create a plan for article writing, etc.
- Begin to organize materials for storing yearbook information: Photo editors manage a calendar for photo events and deadlines, managing editors and editors-in-chief come up with coverage ideas and begin to develop the theme more.
- All students look through yearbooks and magazines for ideas on layout, fonts, colors, etc.
Friday 8/21/14:
Objectives: Explore theme ideas for the yearbook, discuss expectations for staff roles
- Yearbook roles assigned & discussed!
- Theme work - in groups brainstorm themes for the yearbook
- Decide on theme by the end of the block
- HW: Get yearbook contract signed and return Monday (and syllabus if you haven't turned it in yet!)
Wednesday 8/20/14:
Objectives: Draw a Pig Personality test, syllabus, class expectations, yearbook contract
- Draw a Pig! Let's learn a little bit more about ourselves and each other! Discuss results (not scientific! )
- Syllabus review
- Class expectations
- Yearbook Contracts
- Assign yearbook roles on Friday
- HW: Get syllabus signed, start to think about theme
